Management Information Systems Association (MISA)
website: http://misa.bsa.kent.edu

The Kent State Chapter of MISA began in 1977. Its primary objective is to provide its members with meaningful experiences in the field of computer science as it relates to business applications and systems. The groups successful existence is due to the variety of activities that are scheduled for the meetings as well as the functions that occur intermittently throughout the semester.

The typical meeting agenda includes a discussion of regular MISA news and is quite often followed by special guests in the computer field. These speakers discuss various topics which explain recruiting techniques, employment qualifications, or technological innovations. Also speakers from within the College of Business or the University itself may address the group regarding the program curriculum, internships, or new computer developments around campus.

MISA members participate in a variety of events sponsored by the chapter. Tours of local businesses, and programming competitions help members learn what new technologies are out there. MISA also plays an important roll in the decision of the Information Systems curriculum. Every semester the MISA members have a Faculty Luncheon to discuss the major, and bring up questions and ideas that help the faculty decide on future changes.

Membership is open to any Kent State student, especially those with an interest in the Information Systems field. Those interested can refer to the MISA bulletin board on the first floor of the Business Administration building.
