Part-time MBA
Kent State University is on a 15-week semester system, with four shorter Summer sessions. Courses are conveniently scheduled to meet only one night per week, Monday through Thursday, in two hour and 40 minute blocks. Students are encouraged to take five or more courses in a calendar year to allow them to complete their program as rapidly as possible.
Typically, Professional (part-time) MBA students take 2 courses per semester. A full selection of courses is also offered during the Summer sessions, however these classes meet for a shorter period (5-weeks) so taking only 1 - 2 classs in the summer may be advisable.
A part-time student usually completes the program in 2.5 ? 3.5 years depending on the student?s undergraduate degree. All graduate students have a maximum of 6 years to complete the degree.
After being admitted, you'll receive a suggested list of courses to register for during your first semester. After your first semester, advising is done on an individual basis as needed with your advisor. For the convenience of professional (part-time) students, we offer evening advising appointments while classes are in session.

Quantitative and Computer Proficiencies for MBA Students
Two proficiency areas are required to enter the MBA program, quantitative skills and computer skills. Meeting these requirements is determined by successful completion of a prior undergraduate course in Calculus for the Quantitative area, and a basic computer skills class. Your program sheet which was included with your admission letter indicates whether these courses are required.
For students lacking a prior quantitative background, an elective course called Survey of Economics (ECON 62010) is required. This course is usually offered each fall semester and counts toward the MBA program as an elective. A quantitative proficiency exam is offered three times per year for those who would like to try to test out of the quantitative proficiency requirement. Contact Felecia Urbanek at furbanek@kent.edu for more information.
For students lacking a prior computer background, a computer skills workshop is recommended. The course should cover MS Word, Power Point, Excel, and Internet usage for research.
