FAQs: Pre-Program Workshops

Prior to each new academic year, the MSFE faculty hold three Pre-Program workshops. There workshops serve as refresher sessions in pre-requisite areas of Business, Mathematic and Probability. To insure that all students begin the MSFE program ready to succeed, otherwise highly qualified applicants who last exposure to workshop materials is several years old may be required to attend one or more of these workshops prior to the beginning of the Fall semester.

Q: What workshops are offered prior to the program?
A:
Workshops in Ordinary Differential Equations, Business, and Probability Theory are offered.



Q: When will I be notified if I am required to attend a workshop?
A:
If you are required to attend a Pre-Program workshop you will receive notification in your acceptance letter.



Q: Are grades in the pre-program workshops used in admissions decisions?
A:
Students required to attend Pre-Program workshops must obtain verification of attendance from the professor in charge of the workshop and submit this verification to the MSFE Program Administrator prior to the start of classes.



Q: Are the workshops offered only for the students who are notified in their acceptance letter?
A:
No, all incoming students are welcomed to attend these workshops.



Q: How much do the workshops cost?
A:
The workshops have been designed for incoming Financial Engineering students and are offered at no additional cost.



Q: When are the workshops conducted.
A:
The workshops begin four (4) weeks prior to the start of classes and end at least one week prior to the start of classes.
