All MSFE students participate in a ten (10) week, industry based internship project with a Financial Industry firm.
Q: How many students obtain internships?
A: All students receive an internship and are assigned by the Program Director and Administrator.
Q: What are the Employment prospects for graduates of the Financial Engineering Program?
A: Employment prospects for MSFE graduates are very good. To date, 100% of our alumni have been employed by March following graduation.
Q: What firms have employed prior graduates?
A: Employers include investment banks, commercial banks, financial consultants, financial and database software suppliers, financial regulators, and exchanges.
Q: What was the average salary for MSFE graduates?
A: The average initial salary is about $65,000 per year prior to adding in bonuses offered by the firms. Once bonuses (usually annually) are added to the base salary the annual earnings are about $150,000 per year.
Q: What types of careers do MSFE graduates typically pursue?
A: MSFE graduates are offered positions as:
- risk managers
- investment bankers
- derivative traders
- designers of specialized securities
- financial engineers
