In the Fall semester of 2007, MISA took on the project of building and designing a website for St. Patrick's School in Kent, Ohio. St. Patrick's is a private Catholic school. MISA felt a project like this would be a good way to do something for the community around Kent and allow us to use skills and knowledge from our Kent State classes. St. Patrick's did have a website, but the site was badly in need of an update. St. Patrick's Principal Mr. John Mazan served has our "client" for our project. Mr. Mazan provide us with a list of features and pages he would like on the website. MISA took his basic requirements and after research other school's website created the layout of the new website. The save time and get a new website up as soon as possible open source technology was used when possible. The website was designed using a free open source template and tailored to St. Patrick's using the open source editor Nvu. Right now the website is basic, but the hope is MISA will continue to add functionality and features to the website each semester. Additionally the long term goal is to allow St. Patrick's Junior High School age students the ability to update the site. MISA hopes to make the site easy to use, so this goal can be accomplished.
