"The trouble with the future is that it usually arrives before we're ready for it." -- Arnold H. Glasow

Colleges of Business and Higher Education have entered a period of rapid, unpredictable, and exciting change. In our business, we have come to appreciate the need to face the future and make the changes needed to maintain excellence in all that we do. While we face challenges, we also see great opportunities to serve the needs of the students, faculty, alumni, employers and the business community! I am especially excited about the the many quality improvements we have made, and the tremendous commitment to be ever better. As a commercial I heard says, "We strive for perfection but we will accept excellence!"

These are just a few of the features you will find unique to the Kent Graduate School of Management experience:

  • VALUE - The cost of the student's education in terms of money, time, even income foregone is outweighed by the quality of the education that student receives from Kent's combination of experienced business professors and business professionals.

  • TECHNOLOGY - State of the art computer, telecommunications, and quality classroom and seminar facilities. Soon to be introduced: a dual purpose distance/distributed learning facility.

  • GLOBAL APPLICATIONS - A clear emphasis on managing in a global environment and the possibility of an international business experience that combines study of the business practices and culture of a country.

  • LEADERSHIP/TEAMBUILDING - Students experience working together in cross-functional teams where knowledge and experience is gained as well.

  • FLEXIBILITY - We work closely with our students to develop a program that meets their needs and considers their previous academic experiences and personal background.

The results of our students' educational experience is reflected in their enhanced upward mobility in their current organizations and greater opportunities for employment at higher levels in other organizations. A concrete measure of our success is the large numbers of Kent business alumni who have or had outstanding careers in government, industry, and the not-for-profit sector. For example, our first woman graduate of the business school, Julia Montgomery Walsh, who became a member of the American Stock Exchange and one of only three women who own an investment firm. Bill Benford is President and Chief Operating Officer of LA Gear. Dick Ferry is co-founder and CEO of Korn/Ferry International, the largest international executive search firm. Yank Heisler is former CEO of Society Bank and current Director and President of Private Banking for KeyCorp. Manny Barenholtz is founder of Walden Golf & Tennis Resort in Aurora, Ohio. David McCauley, a member of the College's advisory council, is President and Chief Operating Officer of Grady McCauley, one of the largest graphics designs firms in the Cleveland area.

For these, and many more reasons, I hope you will seriously consider Kent State University for graduate business study.
