Exploring Business

Class Format

Due to the large class size (approximately 200 students), lectures will predominate in the classroom. However, students will be actively engaged to discuss and present key facts from the assigned readings and materials presented. Lectures will emphasize practical applications of the material, and real examples of business situations will be used to promote a thorough understanding of the concepts.

A variety of teaching aids will be used, including PowerPoint presentations, case studies, videos and online Internet demonstrations. Several guest lectures can be expected.

Students are expected to read the assigned text materials and complete the homework assignments prior to each class session.

There are 10 homework assignments due during the course of the semester that are designed to hone understanding of the materials, including short case studies, financial analyses and a stock market evaluation.

Completing the reading and homework and class attendance are critical because a quiz is given during each class session, and the materials presented in class will not be available outside the lecture session.

Two bonus opportunities are available to students to permit them to improve their overall performance.
