- Twice the congratulations to Dr. Xinlei (Shelly) Zhao, Associate Professor Finance, on her two A+ journal articles. She is sole author of “Technological Innovation and Acquisitions,” forthcoming at Management Science, and lead author of “Return Decomposition,” forthcoming at Review of Financial Studies.
- At their January 30 meeting, the Kent State University Board of Trustees unanimously passed a resolution of appreciation for Dr. George E. Stevens, a Kent State graduate, who served as dean of the College of Business Administration and Graduate School of Management for 13 years and returned to full-time teaching last October. The Trustees also gave Stevens the title of dean emeritus.
- Congratulations to Dr. Ran Barniv, Professor Accounting, lead author on “Do Analysts Practice What They Preach and Should Investors Listen? Effects of Recent Regulations”, The Accounting Review July 2009. This is the leading journal in accounting. This article originated with the full-semester RAG KSU proposal and Research Award for the 2006-2007 academic year.
- Dr. Mark Holder, is named 2009 Secretary and Treasurer of the Institute for Financial Markets (IFM).
- The Marketing Department in Kent State University's College of Business recently announced that Tuo Wang, Assistant Professor Marketing, will have a paper, “The ‘Name Your Own Price’ Channel in the Travel Industry: An Analytical Exploration”, published in Management Science. Dr. Wang is first author on this paper which will appear in this A+ journal in 2009. Congratulations Dr. Wang!
- Dean George Stevens has been working with AACSB accreditation teams and is currently on their Board of Directors.
- Our Dean George Stevens is returning to teaching following the 2008-09 academic year.
- Dean Stevens assisted a school in Tainan, Taiwan, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) and toured world class manufacturing facilities operated by alumni of this university.
