Dr. George E. Stevens
Dean of the College of Business Administration at Kent State University
Dr. George E. Stevens currently serves as Dean of the College of Business Administration and the Graduate School of Management at Kent State University. Aside from his regular duties as Dean, Dr. Stevens also serves as a Professor of Management & Information Systems. Prior to his Kent State University appointment, Dr. Stevens was Professor of Management and Dean of the School of Business Administration at Oakland University from January 1991 until June 1995. During 1989 through 1990 he served as Professor of Management and Interim Dean of the College of Business Administration at the University of Central Florida.
Dr. Stevens holds the following accreditations:
- Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree from Kent State University
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Washington University
- Bachelor of Arts degree from Thomas A. Edison College
- Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Delaware State University
Prior to his arrival at Kent State University, Dr. Stevens served as a member the Pontiac Area Urban League, the Association of Management, the Society for Human Resource Management, the Academy of Management, the Decision Science Institute and the Economic Club of Detroit.
Dr. Stevens has done extensive research in the areas of employment discrimination, performance appraisal, recruitment, selection, and stereotyping behavior. He has published 57 journal articles, 80 proceedings, and has presented over 100 papers at academic and professional meetings. His diverse employment background includes positions as financial analyst, internal placement coordinator, recruiter, and assistant to the director of employee relations. He has assisted in assessment center development at Rohm & Haas, Inc. and Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co.

Dr. Stevens is the author of Cases and Exercises in Personnel/Human Resources Management (1996).

Dr. Stevens previously served on the board of directors of the North Oakland County YMCA, Attendance Plus, and St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital of Pontiac. He served as a higher education liaison in the Detroit Compact. Dr. Stevens is a member of the AACSB Business Accreditation Committee and serves on AACBB peer review teams. He is a board member of the Kent Regional Business Alliance. Also, he is a member of the Kent Rotary.
Dr. Stevens currently serves as a member of the Rotary Club of Kent, Ohio. He is a board member of the KeyBank Community Service Board, Society for the Advancement of Management, and Small Business Council of Akron Regional Development Board. Dr. Stevens is a trustee for the Kent Regional Business Alliance and editorial board member for the Advanced Management Journal. He has served as a board member of the AARP Academic Advisory Council and completed a three-year term as a member of the AACSB Business Accreditation Committee. Currently, he serves on AACSB peer review teams as Chair, Advisor, or member. He has assisted several business schools as an AACSB candidacy advisor. Dean Stevens serves as a Consultant-Evaluator for the North Central Association.
The dean's name is included in Who's Who among Black Americans, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, and Who's Who in Higher Education. In 1997, he was inducted into Delaware State University's Alumni Hall of Fame.
